Artist Bio
Anneli grew up under the vast blue skies and golden wheat fields of the Canadian Prairies. The solitude of the country and the backdrop of nature nurtured an innate ability to slow down, observe the world, and use the gift of imagination. This contemplative approach continues today and is represented in her paintings that are inspired by our natural world.
A lifelong writer, Anneli began painting in 2016. She has taken introductory courses in drawing and painting at art schools on Vancouver Island and with various artists.
The process of exploration and experimentation are the central qualities of her approach to painting.
Anneli has a strong interest in art as Spirit. Some of her influences include Agnes Pelton, Hilma af Klint, Emily Carr, and Georgia O’Keefe. She has recently changed her life focus to immerse herself in her artisitic passions of painting, writing, storytelling and performance.
Anneli’s inspirations come from the miraculous moment in front of her, whether that be in her neighbourhood in Victoria, British Columbia absorbed in the seascape along the iconic Dallas Road or the lushness of Beacon Hill Park or absorbed in the grasslands or desert, surrounded by starlit skies and the cries of coyotes.
Anneli enjoys the contrast of living in the Pacific Northwest and traveling to the arid conditions and wide open spaces of the southwest.
